Revolutionary Innovation for Freddie Mac

Freddie Mac’s Multi-Family lending sector sought to modernize its underwriting process by creating a custom suite of applications, called myOptigo, to facilitate each step of their underwriting process. myOptigo would prove to be a transformational effort that would revolutionize their multi-family business by connecting lending partners, reducing manual tasks, and increasing data confidence. Manmade Creative partnered with Freddie Mac agile teams to provide front end design strategy as well as usability research and design validation.

Key Impacts:

  • Streamlined underwriting process, reducing duplicative efforts and manual steps

  • Increased data accuracy and confidence through automation

  • Standardized the process from lender submission to loan funding and capital market investment

  • Established a design system for a cohesive user interface

Building a Modern Underwriting System

Through user interviews, Manmade Creative established end-to-end journey maps, helping to untangle a complicated process to understand the different needs and motivations across several business units; from lender submission, to loan funding, to capital market investment and mortgage servicing. Working with over 30 external lenders and 25 different Freddie Mac internal users, our team elicited contextual feedback, yielding key insights that would drive design decisions to maximize user adoption.
